PUGATA BHOOMI JETWAN VIHAR

A Multipurpose Service Oriented Monastery

Siddharthanagar, Nepal

The Pugata Bhoomi Jetwan Vihar was initiated by local devotees nearly fourteen years back with multi purpose service oriented components like Health Post, Primary School, Buddhist Library, Pilgrimage House and worship and prayer, landmarks like "World Peace Buddha Stupa", Buddha Dharma Sangha Vipassana Center and a Monk's Quarter. The Work status of the above components are as below:

Project Components

•  World Peace Buddha Stupa

The Peace Stupa contents a four feet tall Buddha Image at the center inside the dome hall for prayer and worship. The peace Stupa is hollow inside and only one of its kind and size in the western Nepal near the sacred Lumbini. The construction was completed and inaugurated few years back. The giant Stupa is surrounded by a 'Mandala' garden and has become an attraction center to all the locals and other visitors. The Stupa is also standing on the sacred "Asta Dhatu". It needs donors for regular maintenance works of the garden and the Stupa.

•  Primary School

A modern school Building with seven large class rooms and an administration room has also been completed. It also has a large play ground for the children. This school aims to impart academic education along with Buddhist teachings from the primary level to the local children so that children develop spiritual knowledge right from their childhood. The school building also has made the necessary furniture for the class rooms. It is eagerly awaiting donors/volunteer teachers or organizations interested in running the primary school. The cost for running the school and maintenance can be presented on request.

•  Health Post

The health post aims to impart primary medical services to the rural people. The medical services might include medical mobile vans for awareness of hygiene, mother and child care, vaccination programs etc. Other than the primary medical services at the health post. As Lord Buddha preached, "The one who serves the sick and underprivileged will be my true follower and will attain my blessings." The meaning of Dharma is also to serve the needy, hence, it's the duty of all the Buddhists to serve the feable and needy people. The health post building is nearly half completed and needs donations for finishing works and other logistics. Any organizations interested to run the health post are also welcome.

•  Library

The Library building is also half completed and half part consisting three rooms are ready for opening a small library. All it needs is furniture, books and a minor construction works. It will also have a room to promote further research. Kind donors are solicited for the logistic support and completion of the remaining works.

•  Monk's Quarter

A quarter for the Buddhist monks and nuns to reside is also planned. The foundation construction up to plinth level is completed.

•  Meditation Center

A Buddha Dharma Sangha meditation center proposed for Vipasana and worship is also planned and it will be a unique center in the area to promote the spiritual awakening. The construction of this component is yet to begin. We expect support for the construction of this monastery and the Meditation Center

•  Pilgrimage House

A pilgrimage house for the visitors to stay is also planned. This will also help those people going to Lumbini as a convenient transit stop. We all have felt the necessity of a Pilgrimage house in this city, which is the center of this sacred Lumbini area.

Other works

•  The compound wall around the Master plan is about 60 percent completed. Donors are requested to assist in the remaining construction which on completion will give complete security to the monastery.

•  Lumbini area is well known as a sanctuary for famous migrating birds like Crane. Thus a small bird sanctuary is also planned on the south-west corner of the monastery. This Jetwan Garden will help maintain the ecological balance and beauty, which will be inspirational for further environmental conservation.

•  Free Health Check post camp has also been setup on a regular basis.

We also have been getting the privilege to welcome and assist the Buddhist Peace Marchers and visitors who come here on religious tour from various countries.
